Leslie Martin is an Art Tech teaching artist employed by the State of Oklahoma. Art Tech is a USDE grant awarded to the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Art Tech is designed to bring new or expand fine arts programs to Oklahoma schools in dance, drama, music, or visual art.

Sculpture II / Sculpture Studio (stacked courses)
Sculpture II: Non-ferrous metal casting. Basic welding and woodworking techniques. Emphasis on concepts, form, methods and materials.

Visual Thinking: Form and Space
Investigation of fundamental design principles of form through the process of object making. Students explore concepts of interaction between form, space and movement through developing approaches to the construction and manipulation of materials. Provides experience with a variety of three-dimensional media and develops skills in observation, craft and technique. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary learning through lectures, discussions, critiques, and the process of making objects.

Art Practices I
This is an interdisciplinary course, exploring the processes, ideas, and diverse media of visual arts. The course addresses the thematic concepts that are central the the nature of art making today. This semester's assignments investigate issues of LIGHT, FRAME, and MARK. A slide lecture, an assigned reading, and a short response paper will accompany each project. Visual problem solving will be emphasized throughout the course, in addition to an in-depth exploration of various materials and the nature of artistic meaning.

Shop Foundations
This class will familiarize students with the University of New Mexico sculpture areas's shop facilities, and basic construction techniques. Through demonstrations, exercises and assignments we will cover technical operations, safety protocol and shop etiquette required to use UNM's Sculpture Shop facilities.
