Artist Statement
Growing up in tornado alley of rural central Oklahoma has shaped my ideas of the earth and permanence. The way of life and culture of Oklahoma is communicated in my work, causing people to question what is truly permanent. My work reveals an understanding of how weather shapes the physical and cultural landscape. The destructive climate in our region creates a strong sense of community throughout the state. My regionally-based art works integrate many participants and celebrate people whom survive and thrive in the rugged and beautiful Oklahoma landscape.
